    I don't need over the top realism... if I wanted that I wouldn't read fiction.... fiction is just that... it means imaginary events and people and something that is invented or untrue... Loved Robbie and Reel... all of the series :)
  • Not good enough

    Every volume in this series is flawed in terms of contradictory logic (though not as badly as Lee Child's novels), but this volume is just hopelessly intrusive in lazy research and blatant errors in technical detail... I wonder what the editors were doing - they seem to let the authors in this genre down badly. Compared to Alistair Maclean's better quality novels, these are poorly written - but these are also significantly broader in scope and complexity, perhaps unnecessarily so. Harlen Coben and Carl Hiasen are still the modern day standouts for me... but you can only reread these authors and Chandler so many times...
  • Why do authors do this?

    And that is to create a novel far removed from what we followers want and expect! This time Robie and Reel get mixed up the most complicated and reader-unfriendly plot in Robies home town where following the weak plot is almost impossible. The book starts off in the fashion we like but then branches far left into some weird family drama where there are so many characters it is a job just to work out who is who! Sorry, I simply don't like it!
